As legend has it, a Japanese servant named Genmai was serving tea to a samurai warlord when he accidentally dropped his rice snack into the tea. The popping noise was so intriguing, the samurai tasted the tea and was surprised by the deliciously sweet taste. He named the tea for his servant and the tea became a part of the daily tea service.
Also known as “Popcorn Tea,” tea leaves are harve
sted young, dried, and mixed with roasted rice puffs for a sweetly toasted taste.
